66 days to Christmas

Santa's Workshop escape room is almost here: take a peek

Six clockwork clues, a six-letter secret word and 45 minutes to wind the Starlight Clocktower before midnight.

The story

It's 11:15 PM on New Year's Eve in Honey Hollow Square, and the village has gathered under the lanterns for the Midnight Festival. Right at twelve o'clock, the grand Starlight Clocktower is supposed to ring twelve golden bells and shower the square with star-confetti—until a gust of winter wind blows Mallow the Bear's six clue notes out the belfry window and leaves the main brass gearbox locked tight. Mallow, Clover the Bunny, Hazel the Owl and Finn the Fox need your countdown crew to solve all six clues, collect six clue letters and spell the six-letter secret word before midnight.

While our New Year's Eve Kids Countdown Party Pack is an open-and-play bundle of hourly activity bags, 40-card bingo and 60-second party games, The Countdown Clocktower Mystery is a story-driven escape room where every page is an in-world object from Honey Hollow Square: Mallow's urgent 11:15 PM letter, Clover's belfry blueprint, a Honey Hollow Telegraph Co. dispatch with a cut-out Brass Decoder Wheel (or a no-cut Decoder Table), Mallow's party clipboard, Hazel's treat tally card, a 4x4 midnight display box and the village festival corkboard.

Six clocktower clues, six secret letters

  1. The Clocktower Walkway Maze: trace the single open path from Clover at START to Hazel at FINISH on a 12x12 belfry blueprint
  2. Finn's Clockwork Telegram: decode an urgent midnight dispatch using the cut-out Brass Decoder Wheel or the no-cut Decoder Table
  3. Mallow's Party Checklist: search a 10x10 letter grid for seven of the eight festival supplies to spot the one item that was never packed
  4. Hazel's Midnight Treat Count: work out the value of each party snack and bell (totals up to 20) and match your answer to the letter strip
  5. The Midnight Display Box: complete a 4x4 picture sudoku of pocket watches, midnight bells, party horns and wishing stars to find the tag in the gold-star square
  6. The Festival Job Board: use the order slips on the corkboard to match Mallow, Clover, Hazel and Finn to their festival items

When all six letters are written into the numbered brass dials on the Starlight Clocktower page, players read the six-letter secret word out loud to restart the countdown, color a 9x9 grid to reveal Hazel's Magic Picture and receive their Master Timekeeper Diplomas. Two bonus pages let younger siblings (ages 3-5) join with the Little Helper Junior Pass and let everyone fill out a New Year's Wishes & Time Capsule sheet.

Two easy ways to play

Run a 2-minute Zero-Setup Table Mode by stacking the pages in order on the table, or set up a 15-minute Hide-and-Seek Escape Room using the room hiding-spot plan and printable envelope labels in the 13-page Host Guide. Eighteen fold-over hint cards (three progressive hints per clue) let kids get a gentle nudge without spoiling the letter. Works for a midnight countdown or an early "Noon Year's Eve" celebration.

Every puzzle is generated and checked with our own puzzle software, so each clue has one unique solution and the six letters spell the secret word. The illustrations were made with AI image tools from our own prompts and art direction, then edited and laid out by us; the story text was drafted with AI help and edited by us.

Questions about this kit

How is this different from the New Year's Eve Kids Countdown Party Pack?

The Countdown Party Pack is an open-and-play set of 8 hourly countdown bags, 40 bingo cards and 12 one-minute party games for the whole evening. The Countdown Clocktower Mystery is a 30-45 minute story-driven escape room where kids solve six connected puzzles to unlock a six-letter secret word and restart the village clocktower.

What if we celebrate early before bedtime?

No puzzle requires waiting until midnight. You can run the 30-45 minute clocktower mission for a "Noon Year's Eve" party, an early 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM kids' countdown, or right before midnight.

Can younger siblings (ages 3-5) join in?

Yes. Page 14 is a bonus Little Helper Junior Pass made for ages 3-5, where toddlers and preschoolers count wishing stars, midnight bells and pocket watches and color their own Official Junior Clocktower Helper badge while older kids solve the six main clues.

Do I need scissors, a paper fastener or locks?

No locks or special props are needed, and scissors are optional. Clue #2 includes both a cut-out Brass Decoder Wheel (page 5) and a ready-to-read No-Scissors Decoder Table (page 6) that gives the exact same answers.

What if the kids get stuck on a puzzle?

Every clue has three progressive hints (Hint 1 is a small nudge, Hint 2 is a big help, Hint 3 is almost there) printed both in the Host Guide and on the 18 fold-over player hint cards, so kids can get help without spoiling the clue letter.

Where are the answers?

All solutions and solved puzzle pictures are in the separate 13-page Host Guide & Answer Key. No answers appear on the player pages.
